First Holy Communion for Children
Children normally receive their first Holy Communion during the second grade. Our second grade religious education class prepares students for their first celebration of the Sacrament of Penance and their first reception of Holy Communion.
Students who attend a Catholic school or who are home schooled in the Catholic tradition are not required to attend the second grade Sunday Religious Education class, but they are encouraged to do so.
Per diocesan policy, “Ordinarily, a child will participate for at least one year in a religious education program approved by the parish prior to entrance into the program of immediate catechesis for the Sacrament.” Basically, this means that a child must attend a religious education class (or a Catholic school) for a full school year BEFORE entering into a First Confession/First Communion class. This is why we call the program a two-year sacramental preparation program.
If your child is further advanced than the second grade, but has not yet received Holy Communion, please call the Director of Religious Education, Becky Bryant, at (918) 251-4000 to make arrangements, to enroll your child in the two-year program.
First Holy Communion for Adults
If you are a baptized Catholic adult who has not yet received Holy Communion, please call Becky Bryant or Father Dodd at the parish office for more information about how you might begin to receive the Sacrament: (918) 251-4000.
Holy Communion in the Home
Parishioners who are unable to participate at Mass due to illness may request regular home visits and reception of Holy Communion by calling the parish office at (918) 251-4000.
Holy Communion in the Hospital
The Catholic hospitals in the metro area have Catholic chaplains who visit with the sick, pray, and bring Holy Communion. St. Francis and St. John hospitals also have priest chaplains who minister to the sick daily, including the administration of the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick when needed. Father Dodd and members of St. Anne’s pastoral care team often visit at well.
Parishioners who are admitted to other area hospitals can also receive visits from Father Dodd and members of the pastoral care team.
It is important that you or a member of your family contact the parish office if you are hospitalized as the hospitals do not inform us. Please call at (918) 251-4000.

Parishioners from the St. Anne’s pastoral care team will be happy to bring Holy Communion to you or a member of your family who resides in one of the Broken Arrow nursing homes. Please call the parish office at (918) 251-4000 to make arrangements.
