Sacristans

Sacristans prepare the church for the celebration of the Holy Mass and other rites. Some have care of the linens, others of the altar cloths and coverings; some sacristans clean and care for the holy vessels and other liturgical appointments; some prepare the chalice, vestments, and liturgical books before Mass. There is a head sacristan for each Sunday Mass who has the responsibility of assuring that all has been prepared – from the vessels and vestments, to the lectors and altar servers.
